Since we’ve chosen to pack up our lives in one backpack, we’ve realized one thing. The items that we bring have to be strong, durable, and of good quality. For over 50 years, Craghoppers has been making travel clothing that we have been using since we first started backpacking. We recently ordered some Craghoppers items to test them out for our upcoming trip to South America.

Craghoppers Nosilife Convertible Pants

I love the fabric of this trousers as they are super lightweight. Packed with insect repellent and sun protective technology, this versatile piece of clothing is my perfect travel companion. The cargo style pants converts into shorts making it both easy to use and practical.

  • Drying loops
  • 5 pockets, 2 zipped
  • Heel tape
  • Part elasticated waist
  • Zip off legs
  • Ankle zips
  • Drybag

Why I love them: Often times, when I am trekking, I usually go through a range of temperatures. Sometimes I get hot, and sometimes, I get cold. The fact that I can easily switch from shorts to pants is ideal for me! Plus, the insect repellent technology is pretty awesome!

Craghoppers Vitalise Base T-shirt

I am always on the lookout for good quality sportswear that I can wear on treks. Initially, what attracted me to this was that it was incredibly lightweight. The material looked like it would dry quickly which was perfect for long days spent outdoors.

SPECS:

  • Polyester pique
  • Crew neck
  • Quick drying
  • 100% Polyester

Why I love them: These shirts are SO LIGHT WEIGHT. Unlike my other trekking tops which look battered and worn out after a few washes, this one is very durable!

Craghoppers Nosilife Cargo Shorts

Although Tom is very low maintenance, as a guy, he has one set back. Guy clothes are often bigger and bulkier. Hence, his bag is always heavier. To remedy this, we decided to try ordering these Nosilife Cargo shorts because of their weight and durability. Compared to his other regular cargo shorts, this one is much lighter and has sort of a stretchy feel to them.

  • Drying loops
  • Pockets: 9, 2 with zip-fastening
  • Elasticated waist at sides
  • 5′ length shorts
  • Drybag and mobile phone holder in cargo pocket
  • 100% Polyamide
  • 100% Polyamide

Why Tom loves them: They are not as chunky as my previous cargo trousers which essentially makes more room in my bag! As I am trying to downsize and carry as little as possible, this part of shorts is great for jungle expeditions and treks.

Bear Short Sleeved Base Top

Before I proceed, I have to give a large disclaimer. I LOVE Bear Grylls! Despite comments like, “I’m feeling energized today as I’ve just eaten an ant”, he is badass! Naturally, we wanted to give his gear a dry run. This short sleeved shirt is perfect for hikes and treks, giving you a cool-skin feel due to the moisture control material. It is stretchy and is perfect for the outdoors. Although we do have to say that compared to regular T-shirts, this one feels a lot heavier.

  • Crew Neck
  • Printed Back Neck Label
  • Contrast panels
  • 100% Polyester

Why Tom loves them: Apart from looking sleek and sexy, you can immediately tell that the fabric used is durable and of good quality.

All in all, we love our new Craghoppers gear. Yes, if you look at the prices, they are a little bit more expensive compared to regular outdoor apparel. The difference however is in the quality of material. Tom has two pairs of Craghoppers hiking pants which he has had since forever. They have been with him throughout his entire travels and they are still good as new. So to answer our question, they are definitely worth it! Quality over quantity-especially when it comes to travel gear. And as odd as it sounds, we can’t wait to get muddy, sweaty, and test them out in the great outdoors. We are beyond impressed by the technology that they have applied to their gear and look forward to exploring South America with them.
