Learn all about Vert de Terre by Farrow & Ball in this paint color review.

I recently started a series of Farrow & Ball paint color reviews, and this week I want to talk about Farrow & Ball Vert de Terre, No. 234.

Much like all the other Farrow & Ball colors we’ve reviewed and used in our clients’ homes, Vert de Terre offers so much depth and richness to a room. It works really well with both cool and warm finishes, and can actually help bring both finishes together in a room to create a cohesive look.

Farrow & Ball describes Vert de Terre as a delicate aged green, writing:

This fresh and incredibly soft green is reminiscent of the pigment green earth. With its blue undertone it creates the softest of atmospheres.”

The calming qualities of Vert de Terre by Farrow & Ball make it a beautiful option for almost any room in the house, including bedrooms, bathrooms and even the kitchen.

What is the LRV of Farrow & Ball Vert de Terre?

The LRV (that’s light reflective value) of Farrow & Ball Vert de Terre is approximately 49. Farrow & Ball doesn’t actually give LRVs for their paint colors, but I estimated the LRV with color comparisons and other information on the internet.

This color is fairly muted, but still feels richer than the LRV shows. This is true of many Farrow & Ball paint colors, and probably one of the reasons this company doesn’t give LRV values to their paints. LRV simply doesn’t do justice to the depth and richness of the color on the walls.

What undertones does Vert de Terre have?

Vert de Terre has blue undertones that add depth to this beautiful green paint color.

Is Vert de Terre paint warm or cool?

Vert de Terre is a pretty muted, neutral green color. While its green base adds warmth to the color, its blue undertones make it cooler than some other Farrow & Ball greens (like Cromarty and Teresa’s Green).

Is Vert de Terre darker than Cooking Apple Green?

Yes, it is just a bit darker and cooler than Farrow & Ball’s popular Cooking Apple Green. Vert de Terre is also a more muted color, making it the more versatile option of the two.

When should I use Farrow & Ball Vert de Terre?

Can I use Vert de Terre as an Interior Trim Color?

While this muted green is certainly not a traditional trim color, you could absolutely use this color for both walls and trim to wrap a room in a calming, earthy hue. It’s also a great accent color. This color would also look beautiful with a slightly darker green paint as a trim color, like Farrow & Ball’s Lichen.

Can I use Vert de Terre for cabinets?

There are so many options for a Farrow and Ball Vert de Terre kitchen! This color looks gorgeous on kitchen walls and can pair well with both warmer white or crisp white cabinets.

Vert de Terre kitchen cabinets are another beautiful option for homeowners who want a less traditional cabinet color that is still neutral and classic. Paint your lower cabinets with Vert de Terre and keep your upper cabinets white, or use this color on all of your cabinets.

Can I use Farrow & Ball Vert de Terre for exteriors?

This color would look really lovely outdoors! While Farrow & Ball paint colors tend to be cost prohibitive to use as a full house exterior paint, I love the idea of a Farrow and Ball Vert de Terre front door.
