Gant is an American-Swedish brand that is well-known for its modern take on classic preppy style. Founded in 1949 by Bernard Gant, after whom it’s named, the brand has expanded over the years to include clothing and accessories that are both stylish and functional. But do you know why is Gant so expensive?

I really like Gant as a brand. Gant brings an American vibe with its clothes, and I consider it a brand for more mature men, explaining why it is so costly.

Let me show you why is Gant so expensive, in my opinion.

Why Is Gant So Expensive?

Gant is so expensive because it’s a premium brand, shows wealth and status, celebrities wear the brand, and the shirts and polos are popular among men (I know I love them).

Gant Is A Premium Brand

Gant is a premium brand because not everyone can buy its products all the time. You might be able to afford one piece in a while, but not all the time, and that is perceived as a premium brand.

Premium brand consumers can push themselves to pay more than what they pay for an average product with the same functions. So Gant knows that they can charge more money for its shirts because consumers will buy them, independently of the price.

Also, people, in general, love a premium brand because it makes them feel special. Wearing a Gant shirt or a Primark shirt is definitely not the same. Wearing a premium brand product can boost your confidence and make you feel sexier.

I would say Gant is a premium brand like Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, or Calvin Klein. All of these brands are more focused on men than women (in my opinion).

Gant Shows Wealth And Status

Fashion is a way of showing wealth and status to other people, which is very important in some environments. I believe Gant shows more status among men than women as it is a brand with solid masculine vibes.

When someone sees you wearing a Gant shirt or another premium brand shirt, they think you are rich enough to spend your money on clothes. Of course, that’s not always true, but people notice it when you wear this type of clothing. Brands know this and make their products more expensive since they know people will buy them.

I do love to buy Gant polos and shirts, not because I want to show other people I am wealthy or I have a certain status, but because I like the masculine vibe it brings with itself. It brings a certain je ne sais quoi.

Gant is expensive because it will put you in a smaller group of people who can afford the brand. But, of course, it’s not as restricted as buying Gucci or Louis Vuitton products, but it’s smaller than mass-market brands like Zara or GAP.

Gant Shirts And Polos Are Popular Among Men

So many gents love this brand because of the unique designs, styles, and colors it exposes in its collections. You can find all kinds of different colors within the large spectrum offered by the brand. 

As you know by now, I love Gant shirts and polos and have a few in my wardrobe. I particularly like the Gant classic oxford shirt, one of the best sellers of the Gant collection. Like me, many men love these Gant products because they are of good quality and have a signature rugged style, with a tailored look that you can comfortably wear with other clothes and look on point. 

I like the Gant polos because they look pretty good with jeans or chinos, and you have so many different colors to choose from. They can give a casual or more formal look if you prefer, and I love that you can do both with the same item.

Knowing all the above, Gant can charge more for its products since it’s perceived as of good quality among men who will purchase from the brand.

Celebrities Wear Gant

Celebrities like Ryan Gosling, Ben Affleck, Ashton Kutcher, or Ryan Reynolds are often seen with Gant clothes. We all know how much women and men love all of them. They are all good-looking and dress pretty well.

When you see a celebrity wearing something that looks good on them, you will try to copy that style and buy the same outfit. This is why brands like Gant use stars to promote their product: they build credibility for the brand, create brand awareness, and impact people’s emotions to buy something they didn’t know they needed.

Having famous people wearing a specific brand makes the products more expensive, elevating the status and exclusivity of the brand.
